We are pleased to invite you to join us for a one day autism intervention workshop with Dr Richard Solomon, M.D. (Medical Director of The PLAY Project), one of the leading medical professionals in the field of Autism treatment and research.
This all day workshop was created to provide an introduction to The PLAY Project (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) Based on the Developmental, Individualized, and Relationship (D.I.R) oriented model of child psychiatrist Stanley Greenspan, M.D.This unique community-based autism training and early intervention program teaches parents and professionals effective, low cost, and efficient ways to help children ages 18 months to 6 years.
This workshop is great for parents and professionals who want to learn the fundamentals of play-based intervention. It includes an extensive introduction to the DIR Model - also know as "Floortime". A Play Skill Sequence teaches play strategies, methods and techniques. Dozens of video case examples help participants see play in action. No prior knowledge is needed to attend.
Workshop objectives will include:
- Learn the current trends and research in autism spectrum disorders
- Understand the importance of the neurological "comfort zone" and develop an ability to read cues
- Describe and understand basic DIR principles, strategies and techniques
- Learn to implement DIR intervention techniques to improve outcomes for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
